Jesus, Interrupted: Revealing the Hidden Contradictions in the Bible (And Why We Don't Know About Them)
By Bart D. Ehrman

Luke 12:22
Then Jesus said to his disciples: "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear.

Matthew 6:28-29

28And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:

 29And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

I had never understood this. I would say what about work?  Its work that gets us out of suffering. Only if we all work hard can we love our neighbor.

In fact lilies do not concern themselves with work .. they simply are .. yet they still act exactly as they are and they produce great beauty. We are the same as the lilies. If we simply permit ourselves to love our creator, and follow Jesus Christ...  we will not work, or worry... We will do our lives and our day to day toil will be for "God and country", so to speak... for our neighbor. There is no reason or need to worry about a fine meal, or nice clothes for that is not the point, who we are is the point. What is the point of this short opportunity to exist if it is not for love, the infinite pity...   What was once work and worry becomes the joy of doing Gods work.

The Buddhists have a similar concept ... that life is like a stone thrown in a river, its not the stone that makes it's destiny but the rivers current. Only the form and shape of the stone can effect its destiny. The river represents the alpha and omega... and we are the stone.

Mateo 6:28-29 (Reina-Valera 1995)

28 Y por el vestido, ¿por qué os angustiáis? Considerad los lirios del campo,[a] cómo crecen: no trabajan ni hilan;

    29 pero os digo que ni aun Salomón[b] con toda su gloria se vistió como uno de ellos.

Unless suffering is the direct and immediate object of life our existence must entirely fail of its aim.

Mark 15:33-34 (New King James Version)

Jesus Dies on the Cross

33 Now when the sixth hour had come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour. 34 And at the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?” which is translated, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”
